Short History

At the beginning of 1990, George Yfantidis, then pastor of the Greek Evangelical Church of Akropotamos, felt that God was calling him to serve in the city of Larissa.
A few months later, he and his family decided to move there permanently.

During the first years, the gatherings took place at their house, but due to the increasing attendance, in 1996 a space (the 1st floor of a building) was purchased in the very center of the city (on Venizelou Street where the church is still located until today), where the church could meet more comfortably.
At that time the church was operating under the name “Christian Center of Larissa”.

In 1998, following a decision of the General Synod of the Evangelical Church of Greece, the Christian Center of Larisa was officially recognized as a member, with the name now being “Greek Evangelical Church of Larissa”.

The number of attendees was increasing every year and the need for a bigger space came to the surface. For that reason, in October of 2008, the 3rd floor of the same building was purchased, and consequently the church was moved from the 1st floor where it was until then, to the 3rd floor, where it is still today.

The 1st floor is now used for hospitality, the Youth Group and for some other ministries.
